Beginning today, Friday March 15, 2013 and continuing until October 1, 2013, dogs are not permitted to be on the Sea Girt Beach.

5-3.3 Boardwalk and Beach.

a. No person owning, walking or otherwise having custody or possession of any dog shall cause, suffer or permit such dog to go or be upon any part or section of the boardwalk at any time regardless of the manner in which such dog is confined and controlled.

b. It shall be unlawful for the owner or a person having custody or control of a dog to suffer or permit it to be upon the beach between March 15 and September 30, whether leashed or otherwise. At other times of year the owner or a person having custody or control of a dog may accompany it on the beach only if it is securely confined and controlled by an adequate leash or chain not more than six (6) feet in length.

5-3.4 Soiling and Defecating. (Pooper-Scooper Requirements)

No person owning, walking or otherwise having custody or possession of any dog shall cause, suffer or permit such dog to soil, defile, defecate on, or commit any nuisance on any curb, street, sidewalk, park, playground, school land, or upon any private property unless permission of the owner of the private property has been obtained.

Any person owning, walking or otherwise having custody or possession of any dog which soils, defiles, defecates on, or commits any nuisance on any curb, street, sidewalk, park, playground, school land, or upon any private property without the permission of the owner shall immediately remove all feces deposited by the dog, place the same in a sealed nonabsorbent leakproof container and promptly dispose of it in a sanitary manner.
