On January 8th, 2014 the Borough of Sea Girt swore in Chief Kevin Davenport to the position of Chief of Police.  Chief Davenport was promoted to the rank of Captain in May of 2013 and took over the day to day operations of the Police Department in July as the Acting Chief after the retirement of Chief Robert Conway.

Chief Davenport began his career in the Borough of Sea Girt as a part-time dispatcher in 1990.  Later that year he worked as a Special Officer with the Borough.  In 1991 he attended the Monmouth County Police Academy and became a Class II Special Officer with the Borough of Manasquan.  While working as a Special Officer he did not leave the Borough of Sea Girt.  He continued his employment with the Borough as a dispatcher.  In 1993 he was sworn in as a Patrolman for the Borough of Sea Girt and attended the Ocean County Police Academy.  In 2007 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

Chief Davenport plans to keep and open door policy.  He plans to maintain the mission of the Sea Girt Police Department to provide services that are of the highest quality and responsive to the needs of the community.  He plans on getting to know the people of the community and working with them to help resolve any problems they may have.  He also plans on keeping the Department trained well and operating with today’s technology.
