The Sea Girt Police Department’s Communications Unit serves the Borough of Sea Girt as a vital link of emergency and non-emergency communications.  This unit operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The duties faced by our communications staff cover a wide array of tasks.  They are responsible for answering all incoming phone calls placed to the Police Department or the Fire Department and route all call to the appropriate personnel.  They receive incoming 9-1-1 calls from the Monmouth County 9-1-1 center as serve as a radio dispatching point for alerting the appropriate first responder to handle that emergency.  They are also tasked with keeping a record of all daily activities of our department using our Computer Aided Dispatch and Records Management systems.  They monitor teletypes from the National Law Enforcement

Telecommunications Network and other forms of wide area information sharing networks.

The Sea Girt Police Department maintain a Computer Aided Dispatch system. (CAD system)  This system allows our dispatcher to track all calls and events within our Department, or which effect our Department, Borough, or residents.  This system logs all responses and response times along with any information provided to the dispatcher or responding officers.  All people involved in an incident are recorded and information is sent via a wireless network to officers in the patrol vehicles.   From this system and officer, or dispatcher, will have information vital to officer safety and to provide an efficient response to any location in our Borough such as previous call history, firearms registrations, domestic violence protection orders, or emergency contact information.  This information can be sent silently and not broadcast over the traditional two-way radio system.
