NJSACOP Accreditation Hearing

On Thursday, April 19th, 2018, Chief Kevin Davenport, Captain Justin Macko, and Accreditation Manager Sergeant John DeMillio attended The New Jersey State Association Chiefs of Police Accreditation Committee Hearing in South Brunswick, NJ for the final phase of our re-accreditation process. The committee voted unanimously to award our agency with Re-Accreditation status. The Sea Girt Police Department has been an accredited agency since 2011with the NJSACOP.

Accreditation is a progress and time-proven method of assisting law enforcement agencies to calculate and improve their overall performance. The foundation of Accreditation lies in the adoption of standards containing a clear statement of professional objectives. Participating agencies conduct a thorough self-analysis to determine how existing operations can be adapted to meet these standards and objectives. When the procedures are in place, a team of trained, independent assessors verifies that the applicable standards have been successfully implemented.

Accredited status represents a significant professional achievement. Accreditation acknowledges the implementation of policies and procedures that are conceptually sound and operationally effective.

This is the second time the Sea Girt Police Department has been re-accredited.  The initial status of an accredited agency was achieved in 2011.  Assessors from the New Jersey State Association of Chief’s of Police conduct an assessment of an agencies ability to meet the standards every three years.
