The Sea Girt Police Department announces the deployment of Body Worn Cameras.
Chief Kevin Davenport has announced that on Friday August 5, 2016 @ 3:00pm the Sea Girt Police Department is deploying the use of Body Worn Cameras (BWC) by uniformed Sea Girt Patrol Officers. The Department Policy has been written and distributed to assigned officers and supervisors. All officers within the police department have also attended training in the use of BWC’s.
The Sea Girt Police Department’s policy is in accordance with the Attorney General Guidelines and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office policy and directive.
The Sea Girt Police Department policy includes the BWC use, video storage, retrieval, and fully describes the Officer and Supervisor’s responsibilities with respect to BWC’s. Video from these cameras may be used in accordance with policy for criminal, civil and administrative proceedings. This advisory is intended to notify and educate the public that video recording and using BWC’s has been officially implemented by the Sea Girt Police Department. Note: The policy of the Sea Girt Police Department is that body cameras will be first deployed to vehicle Patrol Officers and their Supervisors responsible for calls for service. Foot Patrol Officers may also be equipped with cameras depending on equipment availability and supplies.
