Sometime between late Friday night and early Saturday morning, someone entered a residence in the 300 block of The Terrace. The subject removed a woman’s purse off of the floor of a hallway just off of the kitchen. The subject then left the residence. The home owners were home at the time of the burglary, but were unaware that it had occurred until Saturday morning. It is believed that the burglary occurred between 10:30 and 11:30 Friday night.

This is the seventh burglary of an occupied residence in Sea Girt since January 24th. It appears as though the subject looks through windows looking for purses, wallets, cash and jewelry, which have been left out in plain-view. The subject then looks for an unlocked door or window to quietly enter the residence, take the item, and leave undetected. Residents are urged to keep items of this type out of sight, and to keep their windows and doors locked at all times.

Residents are urged to report any suspicious persons or activities to the police department as soon as they are observed. The police department can be reached at 732-449-7300.
