Office of the Chief

Chief Justin E. Macko started his career with the Borough of Sea Girt Police Department in 1999. Chief Macko has served in the positions of Dispatcher, Class I Special Officer, Class II Special Officer, Patrolman, Sergeant and Captain before being promoted to Chief on February 1, 2021. Chief Macko has served in several roles within the Sea Girt Police Department including Personnel Officer, Internal Affairs Supervisor, Public Information Officer, LESO Coordinator, Municipal Counter Terrorism Coordinator, Special Events Coordinator, ABC Officer, and Field Training Program Supervisor. As Captain, Justin served as the Executive Officer of the agency overseeing the day to day operations. Justin also serves as the Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator for the Borough of Sea Girt.

Chief Macko obtained his Masters of Administrative Science, Bachelor of Arts degree, and Graduate Certificate in Law and Public Safety from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Justin is a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft, NJ. Chief Macko has attended the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police 53rd Command & Leadership Academy, CUNY John Jay College Law Enforcement Leadership Program, FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Program, FBI Mid-Atlantic Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar (LEEDS), New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice DELTA School, FEMA National Emergency Management Basic Academy, FEMA Professional Development Series and Northwestern University Center for Public Safety Supervision of Police Personnel. Justin currently holds certifications as an Accredited Chief Executive through the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, Traffic Safety Specialist Level 1 through the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety and holds an Incident Management Level 3 Certification from the State of New Jersey.

Chief Macko is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, Monmouth County Police Chiefs Association, FBI-Law Enforcement Executive Development Association, 200 Club of Monmouth County, NJSACOP Command & Leadership Alumni Association, New Jersey Emergency Management Association, and New Jersey State PBA Local 50.
